Meet the Doctor

Dr. Tinai James, a cum laude graduate in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University, continued her matriculation at the California School of Professional Psychology where she earned her Masters of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology. Dr. James has trained in a variety of settings including community mental health, outpatient addiction treatment, and hospitals such as UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and Kaiser Permanente. She also created the first Middle School Intensive Outpatient Program servicing four clinics in the Kaiser Permanente Napa Solano Area.

While providing individual, group, and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults within the hospital setting, Dr. James also provided individual therapy in outpatient private practice. She is trained in a variety of interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting, and has worked with clients presenting with various life challenges, including complex trauma, mood disorders, interpersonal relationship difficulties, suicidal ideation, and self-injurious behaviors.

My Mission:

I am fueled by my passion for witnessing clients journey towards self-awareness, love, and healing.  I consider myself a “co-pilot” in therapy and work diligently to utilize my client’s strengths, interests, and resiliency into their healing journey.

History:

Dr. James has experience working in fast-paced settings while carrying a large caseload of clients at a time. She is excited to have the additional time and flexibility to be able to dedicate her time and expertise to individuals motivated to see change in their lives.
